Chocolate Pear Pudding
This is a quick and comforting dessert that will fast become a favourite!
We’ve never met a chocolate and pear lover who didn’t love it.
We’ve used brown pears because they hold their shape well when cooked and they don’t release as much juice as other pears.

Serves 6-7
Ingredients
5 brown pears, peeled, cored and cut into 6 pieces
30g cocoa powder
125g plain flour
125g white sugar
1 heaped tsp baking powder
150g very soft butter, plus extra to grease tin
2 large eggs
2 tbsp milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp icing sugar
Creamy Chocolate Gelato, to serve
Method
Preheat oven to 190°C
Place cocoa, flour, sugar, baking powder, butter, eggs, milk and vanilla extract in a bowl, and beat with an electric mixed until well combined. It will be a fairly thick batter.
Grease a 23cm square cake tin and lay cut pears in the base.
Spread the chocolate batter over the top and bake for 25 -30 mins, depending on how cooked your like your pudding.
Remove from oven and all to cool slightly.
Using a small sieve, sieve the icing sugar over the top of the pudding and serve with chocolate gelato.
